British Birds – Magpie

Part of a limited edition series featuring five of my favourite British Birds. The prints were originally created with ink and watercolour and are indigo printed onto 200gsm Fedrigoni Tintoretto watercolour paper. All are signed by the artist.

Magpies are a common sight in Britain with their monochrome markings and a splash of iridescent turquoise, and their clack-clack-clack calls. Interestingly, new research has proven that magpies are not collectors, in fact they are actually frightened of shiny things! Magpies are a social bird and are able to recognise other birds and even themselves in mirrored surfaces.
